Hi Blair Star Families!    

Welcome Back, Everyone!  We hope that you all had a fun and restful break and we are excited to be back at Blair to continue our Clothing Unit.  This week we will read ‘Something From Nothing’ by Phoebe Gilman.  In this sweet story, a grandfather shows his love for his grandson by using a piece of fabric to make something useful for his grandson as he grows older and bigger.  

We will be using buttons and stars to make crafts, talk about what a snowman wears, and learn about the Letter N and the Number 5.  

At Home Connections

Is there a special piece of clothing or a special item such as a blanket at your home?  Talk about it with your Blair Star and share with them the story of why it is special and who helped to make it special.  

Find the number 5 out in the community and in your home!  Count items out to 5.  What happens when you add one or items or take one item away?  

We will make a nest to learn about the letter N.  Now that the leaves are falling, do you see any nests in the tress where you live?  What type of items might a bird use to make a nest?  Would they use any pieces of fabric?

 ¡Bienvenidos de nuevo! Esperamos que hayan disfrutado de unas vacaciones divertidas y reparadoras, y estamos muy contentos de regresar a Blair para continuar con nuestra Unidad de Ropa. Esta semana leeremos "Algo de la nada" de Phoebe Gilman. En esta tierna historia, un abuelo demuestra su amor por su nieto usando un trozo de tela para crear algo útil para él a medida que crezca.

Usaremos botones y estrellas para hacer manualidades, hablaremos sobre la ropa de un muñeco de nieve y aprenderemos sobre la letra N y el número 5.

Actividades en casa

¿Tienen en casa alguna prenda de ropa o algún objeto especial, como una manta? Hablen de ello con su hijo/a de Blair Star y cuéntenle la historia de por qué es especial y quién ayudó a hacerlo.

¡Busquen el número 5 en la comunidad y en su casa! Cuenten objetos hasta 5. ¿Qué sucede cuando agregan o quitan uno? Vamos a construir un nido para aprender sobre la letra N. Ahora que las hojas están cayendo, ¿ves algún nido en los árboles de tu zona? ¿Qué tipo de materiales podría usar un pájaro para construir un nido? ¿Usaría algún trozo de tela?
