Hi Blair Star Families!
We are excited to begin another fun and engaging week of learning! Our focus this week is on trees and exploring the question: “Who lives in trees?” We will be reading the book Who Lives in Trees? and discovering the many animals that call trees their home—like birds, squirrels, and even bugs! Students will learn through hands-on activities, songs, and visuals that help bring the tree world to life.
In addition to our theme, we will be introducing the letter H this week. H is for heart, and we’ll be creating heart art using paper plates and other craft materials. This activity will help students practice fine motor skills while learning about the shape and sound of the letter H.
In math, we are adding the number 2 to our math journals. Students will explore the number through counting games, tracing, and hands-on materials like counters or blocks.
As part of our ongoing Tree Study Unit, we will continue learning about the colors of leavescolors of leaves and the different parts of a tree, such as the trunk, branches, leaves, and roots. Students will engage in sensory-rich and interactive lessons to help them understand how trees grow and change.
Family Connection
To help your child connect classroom learning with the world around them, we invite you to try the following activity at home:
🌳 Go on a tree walk! Take a short walk around your neighborhood or yard and look for trees and point out any animals that you might see living in trees.
📸 Optional: Feel free to take a photo of your child next to their favorite tree and send it in! We’d love to display these in the classroom.

¡Estamos emocionados de comenzar otra semana llena de aprendizaje y diversión! Esta semana nos enfocaremos en los árboles y exploraremos la pregunta: “¿Quién vive en los árboles?” Leeremos el libro ¿Quién vive en los árboles? y descubriremos los muchos animales que llaman hogar a los árboles, como los pájaros, las ardillas e incluso algunos insectos. Los estudiantes aprenderán a través de actividades prácticas, canciones e imágenes que les ayudarán a comprender mejor este tema.
Además de nuestro tema, presentaremos la letra H esta semana. H es de “heart” (corazón), y los niños crearán corazones usando platos de papel y otros materiales de arte. Esta actividad les ayudará a desarrollar habilidades motoras finas mientras aprenden la forma y el sonido de la letra H.
En matemáticas, agregaremos el número 2 a nuestros diarios de matemáticas. Los estudiantes explorarán este número contando, trazándolo y usando materiales manipulativos como bloques o fichas.
Como parte de nuestra unidad de estudio sobre los árboles, continuaremos aprendiendo sobre los colores de las hojas y las partes del árbol, como el tronco, las ramas, las hojas y las raíces. Los estudiantes participarán en lecciones prácticas y sensoriales para comprender cómo crecen y cambian los árboles.
